SOLD OUT Tales of Lightning: Stories from 20th century Mount Desert Island with Brent Richardson

  • Town Hill Community Hall 1328 Maine 102 Bar Harbor, ME, 04609 United States (map)

Thank you for your interest in this event. We are at capacity and no longer accepting reservations.

Join the MDI Historical Society and Brent Richardson for “Tales of Lightning” an evening of storytelling from 20th century Mount Desert Island, a time when horse and buggy travel was still commonplace and dairy farms dotted the island.

Brent is an 8th-generation descendant of James and Rachel Richardson, the first permanent European settlers on Mount Desert Island along with Abraham Somes and his family in 1762. He will assume the character of his grandfather, Ralph Richardson, Sr., as he recounts Ralph’s stories of the people and way of life in the early to mid-20th century Indian Point and surrounding towns. Who or what was Lightnin’? Come join your neighbors on a late winter evening and find out!

The program takes place at the Town Hill Community Hall, 1328 State Highway 102, Bar Harbor.

Biography

Brent Richardson grew up in Indian Point. He graduated from MDI High School in 1983. He earned a BA in Zoology from the University of Maine, and subsequently his BSN and MSN from Pace University and the University of New Hampshire, respectively.

Brent is a Master Registered Maine Guide with Recreation and Sea Kayaking licenses. He has been guiding on the waters and mountains of Maine since the late 1980s. He lives in New Hampshire with his family and works as a nurse practitioner and healthcare ethicist in Concord. He returns to the Island often to visit family, hike the mountains, and swim in the lakes and ponds.
