Wherever you are on Mount Desert Island, history is waiting to be uncovered!
We are thrilled about our new free digital history tour and are celebrating its launch by hosting the What Happened Here Challenge from October 1 to October 25.
Download the MDI History Adventure app for Apple or Android, or visit the tour website.
Visit any (or all!) of the 21 stops on the islandwide What Happened Here? digital tour, either in person or virtually. Uncover fascinating stories about our shared history and how our communities are both unique and interconnected.
Complete the contest registration form, telling us which stops you explored and what moved, inspired, or surprised you. We encourage you to share your adventure with us! You are welcome to send photos to info@mdihistory.org with the subject line What Happened Here Challenge, or tag @mdihistory on Instagram and Facebook.
All registrants will be included in our prize drawing taking place at La Rochelle during the Bar Harbor Historical Society’s Free Community Day on October 25 where we will be showcasing the MDI Historical Society’s work and sharing the digital tour with attendees at our booth. Challenge winners will be announced and contacted on October 27th. You do not need to be present to win.
The contest is open to all ages; however, children under 18 must obtain permission from a parent or guardian and use their parent/guardian’s contact information. For more information, contact info@mdihistory.org or call 207-276-9323.
The What Happened Here? digital tour is made possible through donors Jake and Anne Citrin, Shelby and Gale Davis, David and Nanette Schoeder, and Machias Savings Bank.
