History Lecture Series at Woodlawn: Ice Harvesting

  • The Barn at Woodlawn 21 Black House Drive Ellsworth, ME, 04605 United States (map)

In the 21st century ice is readily available in our homes. Outside, ice can provide recreation or present dangers to travel. However, if we look into the past ice itself was a valuable economic opportunity for Mainers that provided off-season income and connected Maine to far distant markets that demanded the crop for food preservation and cooling.

Join Patrick Callaway, Collections Manager at the MDI Historical Society to learn about Ice Harvesting.

This event is free. Donations welcome.

Space is limited. Light refreshments will be served.

The History Lecture Series is sponsored by Legacy Properties of Sotheby's International Realty.
