Catherine McDonald chronicles the multigenerational struggle for women's suffrage on Mount Desert Island, detailing how local women leveraged social causes such as temperance to build leadership skills and transition from private advocacy to public political activism.
Catherine graduated from the University of Maine in 2019 with a BA in History and Secondary Education, and from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2024 with a MA in American History. Catherine started Boundless Local Tour Company in 2023 and offers historical tours in Bar Harbor and Eastport. She lives in Addison with her partner Larry, hopes to pursue a PhD, and continues to share local history with visitors to Downeast Maine.
