Sixth Annual Bean Supper
Architectural Historian and blogger Brad Emerson will explore MDI’s sense of place
Mount Desert, Maine – January 12, 2017
The Mount Desert Island Historical Society will present its 6th Annual Bean Supper at the Mount Desert Island High School on Monday, January 23 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Community bean bakers will again present their delicious versions of this classic New England staple, accompanied by a selection of meats, brown bread, coleslaw, mustard pickles, rolls, and cookies.
The Barn Family Band will provide the dinner music. After dinner, Brad Emerson, a writer on the regional architecture of Maine, will examine how shifting and conflicting notions of place on Mount Desert Island have affected perceptions in a slide show and lecture titled, “A Sense of Place: Changes and Constants.”
Tickets will be sold only at the door — $10 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds from the event will support history education programs at the Sound School House.
The Mount Desert Island Historical Society fosters meaningful engagement with the histories of Mount Desert Island. For more information, call Brendan O’Keefe at 276-9323, email email@example.com or visit the society’s website at www.mdihistory.org.
